Honeywell air purifiers overview

For years Honeywell has been a leader in industries as diverse as aerospace, automation and control systems, transportation systems, and specialty materials. The house has always been important to the company , and it shows in their product range: Honeywell air purifiers, humidifiers, thermostats, security systems, just to name a few.
And within the air purifiers category the company manufactures whole house systems, as well as room size models, all employing either HEPA filters, or electrostatic precipitators to clean the air.

The way an electrostatic air purifier works is that the airborne particles first become electrically charged as they pass through a powerful electric field, and then collector plates immediately attract these "charged" particles. No mechanical filter is used.

HEPA filters have been used since the 1940’s, and, with the exception of Ultra HEPA and Hyper HEPA, are the best mechanical filters around.

What is very useful is that Honeywell air purifiers all have a Clean Air Delivery Rating (CADR) – the amount of clean air provided measured in cubic feet per minute of operation. The CADR divided by 2/3 gives you the maximum room size that an air purifier is able to clean on it’s highest setting, so this helps with what size air purifier to purchase. By dividing the purchase price by the CADR, one gets a measure that tells you the cost per cubic feet cleaned, and makes it possible to compare similar type air purifiers.
