The Ionic Pro – an ionic air purifier that might be as good as the Ionic Breeze

With the immense success of the Ionic Breeze air purifiers from the Sharper Image, other ionic air purifier manufacturers are trying to cash in on the word ionic. One such ionic air purifier is called the Ionic Pro, and is supposed to be as good as the Ionic Breeze, but for half the price.

Ionic air purifiers clean the air by first negatively charging particles that come into the unit, and then attracting them to oppositely charged collection plates.

The Ionic Breeze as well as the Ionic Pro differ from other ionic air purifiers in that they do not use a fan to move the air. Instead these units rely on electrostatic traction to move the air, making them totally silent.

The Ionic Pro has the same specifications as the Ionic Breeze Quadra and can trap particles as small as 1 micron, sufficient to remove airborne allergens like pollen, dust, and pet dander.

Both ionic air purifiers release small amounts of ozone, something that is not liked by everyone. However ozone is well known as a “smoke eater” and will remove smoke and odors.

Ionic Pro appears to be quite confident about it’s ionic air purifier – inviting consumers to order a unit of each brand for trial, and to return the one that is less satisfactory.

Standard warranty on the Ionic Pro is one year, but can for an additional $30 be extended to three years. In both cases, if your ionic air purifier breaks anytime during the warranty period, you can send it back and get it replaced for free.
