A closer look at the Ionic Breeze air cleaner

The Sharp Image’s Ionic Breeze air cleaners have been considered by many consumers to be good value – as evidenced by a nationwide survey for owners of room air cleaners conducted by ACNielsen — the world's leading market research company.

The Ionic Breeze air cleaner is what’s called an electrostatic precipitator. The way these units work is that airborne pollutants are electrically charged and then are attracted to collection plates that are oppositely charged. It’s recommended to clean the blades every one or two weeks to ensure that the unit keeps working optimally.

Sometimes your Ionic Breeze air cleaner may start to ark or make a static kind of sound. This is caused by accumulated particles on the ionizing wires, and the way to fix it is to turn
the unit off, then slide the collection grid out and slowly invert the unit several times. Replace the grid when done.

The ACNielsen survey also found that Ionic Breeze air cleaners have the highest ratings for value and customer satisfaction. Here are some of the reasons for their appeal:

  • No expensive filters to replace
  • Silent operation
  • Low electricity cost
  • Elegant styling

Ionic Breeze air cleaners come in two models – the Quadra and the more expensive GP.
The Quadra, can remove pollutants larger than one micron: larger bacteria, mold spores, pollen, dust, cat dander and other allergens.

If you are really concerned about germs, then the GP model is recommended over the Quadra, because it’s germicidal UV lamp eliminates viruses, bacteria, and other micro organisms.

Both models also generates trace amounts of ozone which is well known for it’s ability to remove smoke and odors.
