Prozone air purifier review

The Prozone air purifier uses ultraviolet light and ozone to clean the indoor air.

The UV-C lamp irradiates and penetrates the membrane of any micro organisms that pass through the Prozone air purifier, and damage the DNA in the process. This prevents the micro organism from reproducing, thereby quickly reducing the population of germs.

The UV-C lamp is self cleaning and uses only 34 watts.

The Prozone air purifier’s UV-C lamp also generates pure ozone, an instable oxygen molecule that readily reacts with organic pollutants such as dust, pollen etc.
Ozone is well know for it’s ability to eliminate smoke, and all sorts of odors, even that of cigarette smoke.

However, as ozone is a strong lung irritant, there have been some concerns in the past, and as a result safe levels of ozone have been set by various government agencies. Whether these safe levels are still sufficient to break down organic pollutants is open to debate.

The Prozone air purifier can cover about 1,000 square feet, sufficient for two large rooms.

Summing up
The Prozone air purifier is fine “smoke and odor eater”, and useful against micro organisms due to the anti germicidal effect of it’s UV-C lamp, but if you are looking for a an allergy or asthma solution, then you are better off looking elsewhere.
