Ecoquest air purifiers review

Ecoquest is a 45 year old Fortune 500 company specializing in improving indoor living conditions with air purifiers, water purifiers, and a range of personal care products such as vitamin supplements, herbals, lotions.

There are various types of Ecoquest air purifiers, the Living Air Classic being one of the best known.
The company claims that it's Ecoquest air purifiers have a capacity to clean the air in an area of up to 3,000 square feet, and if this is really the case, then this air purifier can easily keep several rooms free of pollutants.

The Ecoquest air purifier uses several cleaning technologies:

• Prefilter – to remove hair, lint etc
• Ozone generator – removes odors, and sterilizes micro organisms (on high setting only and you have to leave the room!)
• Negative ion generator - considered far less effective than an electrostatic precipitator.

In case you do not like the smell of ozone, the Ecoquest air purifier's ozone generator can be turned off or set to emit a minimal amount of ozone.

You should be aware though that various studies indicate that ozone - at levels safe for humans - is not really an effective destroyer of micro organisms.

So what do the end-users think of the Ecoquest air purifier?  Most reviews on epinions.com are favorable, with many being impressed with it’s ability to remove odors, the smell of cigarette smoke, and an improvement in their allergy or asthma condition.

The latter is rather surprising, as ozone is considered a powerful lung irritant, and the American Lung Association therefore does not recommend the use of ozone generators - particularly for those who suffer from asthma.

The Ecoquest air purifier is priced around $700, which is quite expensive, but it’s cost per square foot of $0.23 compares well with other air purifiers.  This is assuming though that the unit lives up to it's expectations of cleaning the air in an 3,000 square feet area effectively.
