Holmes air purifiers – quiet achievers with an elegant design

Although better known for it’s humidifiers, Holmes has also been manufacturing a range of Holmes air purifiers for the last ten years.

Holmes air purifiers range in capacity from 54 to 460 square feet, which makes it easy to save money by being able to match the right size air purifier too any particular room.

Most of the Holmes air purifiers rely on HEPA filters to clean the air, but some models also include an ionizer and/or an activated carbon filter.

Carbon filters help reduce unpleasant odors, and by capturing larger particles before they enter the more expensive HEPA filter, also extend the life of the latter.

Most Holmes purifiers are quite slim and can be placed unobtrusively against the wall.

Another likeable feature of Holmes air cleaners is that the Harmony series (HAP615, HAP625, HAP650, and HAP675RC) feature patented noise reduction technology that make them quieter than most air purifiers on the market today.

One problem with filter replacement is that it often is not clear whether a filter really needs to be replaced or not. Not a problem with the Harmony series however, as these of Holmes air purifiers have a filter change light that indicates when to replace that somewhat expensive HEPA filter.
