Hunter air purifiers review

Hunter manufactures two distinct lines of Hunter air purifiers – air purifiers that use conventional HEPA filters, and their so called HEPAtech system.

Of the two types of Hunter air purifiers, the HEPAtech system is the more interesting, as Hunter claims that these air purifiers clean particles as small as 0.1 micron.

On the other hand, Hunter’s traditional HEPA filters only go to 0.3 microns – quite impressive, and all that for almost half the price of it’s Hunter HEPA air purifier range!

HEPAtech Hunter air purifiers use the following cleaning technologies:

  • Pre-filter removes large dust particles, lint, and hair.
  • 3M filtrete electrostatic filter removes smoke, animal dander, pollen, and other airborne allergens as small as .01 microns and larger.
  • Carbon filter absorbs the air odors and freshens

In addition, the HEPAtech Model 30300 also has:

  • An electrostatic precipitator - removes submicron particles while refreshing the air, and an
  • Ionizer that produces negative ions which pull particles out of the air.

Other air purifiers, such as those from Oreck, have similar specifications but are more expensive.

So what’s the catch?

None really, except that, for instance, Oreck purifiers have a 900 square feet cleaning capacity versus the Hunter air purifiers with HEPAtech only up to 224 square feet.

So before buying, make sure that the Hunter air purifier model that you are considering, has sufficient capacity.

Finally, on a cost per square feet basis, both brands have a cost that is similar, but if you have a small room in your house that you want pollutants free, then you can save money by buying a smaller model such as a Hunter air purifier.
